TH TGO has established guidelines for the assessment and monitoring of sustainable development and mitigating any negative impacts that might occurred from T-VER projects. T-VER project developers shall follow these guidelines in order to plan, consider, assess and monitor the negative impacts that may arise from the project implementation accordingly. The developers shall also regard the corresponding positive benefits that materially supplement Thailand’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Initially, project developers are required to assess the project's negative consequences and national sustainable development goals before applying for project registration. Then, during project implementation, the developers must ensure no, or least, negative impacts, as well as maintain the respective SDGs as a result of project implementation. it is required that the project developers have to submit the SD & Safeguards Report which consists of the following contents:
1) General information on environmental, social, and economic projects
2) Evaluating and mitigating negative consequences (Do-no-net-harm)
3) Sustainable Development Goals
4) Sustainable development monitoring plan and prevention of negative impacts
Safeguards Guidelines for implementing the project producing no negative impact (Do-no-net-harm)
Safeguards focus on evaluating and mitigating risks or negative environmental and social impacts that may arise from project implementation. Its aim is to prevent and prepare appropriate responses when negative impacts occur. The criteria are that the project must operate in accordance with local, national, and international laws and regulations. The project must have a detailed contents of the guidelines and measures to prevent and reduce any potential environmental impacts from the project activities. An overview of the prevention of negative impacts of the project consists of 3 main steps .
